Daniela Busarello and EX NIHILO celebrate Franco-Brazilian Avant-Garde and collaborate to create FOGO, a collection of hand crafted perfumes bottles highlighting the French Haute Manufacture and the expertise of the CIAV of Meisenthal.
Both partners cultivate an obsessive love for details and sophistication. Their common ambition is to create sensual, creative and elegant objects that will get even better with time and will never go out of style. It has been an obvious choice to partner with Daniela to create this series of hand-crafted unique pieces. Each piece is unique, textured, shaped by the hand. Their creator Daniela imagined the bottle as a metaphorically moving object coming to life through its constant interaction with light, reflection between the perfume and the carved monogram of its surface.
Daniela is a Brazilian artist who lives and works in Paris. She has signed several architectural projects as well as objects made by the best craftsmen.
Daniela has been inspired by EX NIHILO olfactory creations to create raw, natural and sensual glass pieces, like a tribute to her Brazilian origins.
This inspiration could be noticed through their shapes, their surfaces treatment and the choice of materials: glass but also cork for its organic side and Lapis Lazuli for its touch of secret luxury coiled into the heart of the FOGO XL.
SHAPE & TEXTURES
The largest piece (FOGO XL) is a glass monolith. A contemporary interpretation of an ancient amphora. A mysterious piece like the translucent monolith of Stanley Kubrick in 2001 The Odyssey of space, representing the masculine side. Elsewhere the iconic hexagon pattern of EX NIHILO has been reworked to print a graphic texture on the glass. The king size piece is assorted with a collection of 12 small formats that answer to its shape.
The tailor-made glass texture increases sensations such as touch and look. It also creates a kaleidoscopic effect representing a much more feminin side. This texture is principally dressed in blue from solid to gradient finish creating a luminescent effect, or naturally crystalline.
The blown glass on mold and bespoke mesh technique were obvious to create the bottles and their accessories. This technique can be divided in two steps:
The “hot part”, looks like a dance: The required force, the precision of the gestures and the softness of the glass blower breath are hypnotizing.
The so-called “cold part”: two hands, a saw, and flowing water. The sound of concentration. An all-in tension control until the crucial moment of the glass cutting.
Cork, an ancestral material, is a tribute to the old closure systems. Organic, sustainable and lightweight, it ensures optimum technical sealing for these exceptional pieces.
Hold the glass pipette in hand, remove it from the bottle through the cork and brush the skin with a few drops of perfume in a tender, sensual and intimate gesture.
The “piercing” made of vermeil can be removed from the cork cap to let the delicate spoon dip and bath into a blooming fragrance.
The artisanal work of vermeil on the “piercing” embellishes its hood made of cork, giving it a pure and delicate shape. The Lapis Lazuli is the subtle touch of “introspective luxury” discreetly hidden inside the FOGO XL, like a secret amulet.
Indeed, the use of Lapis Lazuli is ancestral as perfume, it goes back to 7000 BC and means “king’s portion”. Just as perfume Lapis had the reputation of being an aphrodisiac and having medicinal virtues in the Middle Age.
Each piece is unique and signed by the artist. They were created with the passion, precision and techniques of excellence from Lorraine, Gascogne and Paris.
A unique philosophy: the promotion of the best French know-how in their best expression.
The Craftmen from CIAV Meisenthal have been a crucial asset in the success of this project, which represents a real technical feat.
