EX NIHILO is a Parisian fragrance house founded in 2013 by a young trio from Paris. An alternative to stereotyped luxury products, an alternative to mass personalization.

Pointing out a radical desire to break with all the links to the past in order to build a new idea, the Avant-Garde is the starting point of an ideology based on experimentation and modernity. Heritage of the French Revolution, the Avant-Garde is provocative and disruptive by essence. Closer to us, EX NIHILO takes inspiration from an optimistic French era when everything seemed possible (the creation of Concorde, Citroën SM, and various feats in design and architecture).
EX NIHILO draws inspiration from the creative talents of perfumery, but also from architecture, design or art glass. By opening new path of collaboration between the perfume creators, the latest technologies and the artistic community, EX NIHILO wishes to answer the desires of a generation seeking some of the most exciting and inspiring sensations.
Besides its fragrance collections based on the most exclusive materials, EX NIHILO offers an immersive experience and a unique olfactory journey across all its locations. They are venues for discovery and experimentation, fully dedicated to the senses: Personalized perfume consultation, discovery of exceptional new raw materials, electronic fragrance testers… Clients can experience the whole collections, limited editions and artistic collaborations.
In the Top Tier locations, the possibility is offered to create your own demi-bespoke perfume, thanks to the Osmologue©: an exclusive and futuristic version of a high precision fragrance blending system, which cradles the heart and the
Raison d’Être of the brand.
The creative personnalities behind EX NIHILO
EX NIHILO uses only the best natural and synthetic raw materials without cost constraints. It gives Carte Blanche to perfumers to unleash their creativity while respecting the DNA of the House. The guideline of these unisex and sometimes unexpected creations: an immediate addiction, evocative scents with an ingenuous sensuality, a comfortable and long-lasting sillage. A single requirement: to revisit the classics by giving an asperity or an incident to the materials to get a unique and modern result, quintessentially French.
EX NIHILO lets go of the rules and offers an innovative approach both in the instore appreciation of creations thanks to the Vases de Senteurs (an electronic system of dry diffusion, which prevents from “olfactory saturation”) but also in the packaging of its precious creations, laser cut in an insulated foam, it will protect its content from the external aggressions of light, shocks and other temperature variations.
To obtain an exceptional result, the natural materials used in the creations as well as in the personalization program are sourced all over the world. Vanilla Bourbon crosses the oceans from Madagascar, Sandalwood comes from Australia, Iris Pallida from Italy, Orange blossom from Morocco while the Queen of flowers, Rose de Mai is directly sourced from Grasse, world capital of perfumery.
As much as it can, the House supports sustainable initiatives to protect local cultures and ensure continuity over time.
The name of each perfume appears subtly, transparently through the fluid, like a whisper. Paying a futuristic homage to the codes of French luxury and savoir-faire, the caps are engraved and adorned with a pattern designed with 3D modelling, and can be personalized with precious caps offered in limited or even unique editions.
The final attention represents a nod to the world of high jewellery: each cap is stamped with a hallmark, the initials of the brand. Its blue interior coating recalls the emblematic color which forges its identity.
The three founders chose the 352 rue Saint-Honoré to be the Parisian heart of EX NIHILO, implanting the main store right in the center of Parisian luxury. Designed by Christophe Pillet the flagship store was made to be an intimate and elegant place reflecting the D.N.A. of the House.
EX NIHILO proposes an immersive luxury experience, a unique reception and personal service rituals around the scents. From the the fully-windowed façade to the peaceful blue interior the brand expresses a conscious desire for benevolence and sharing.
The venue embodies the stylistic codes of the brand in a subtle game of contrasts where metal and marble correspond with wood and felt, making modernity encounters timelessness. The space is clearly dedicated to discovery and experimentation like a workshop devoted to the senses and creation. The 352 Saint-Honoré shelters the very first Osmologue, numbered 001.
